Finally, after an eventful shooting session in Kiev, Ukraine, and several days of condensed post-production work, Safura’s Drip Drop music video is released. Safura has long been the Eurovision 2010 favourite on a variety of bidding websites across Europe, which has made Drip Drop probably the most awaited video of this year’s Contest – and one of the last among all the contestants.
The international team that produced the music video, including director Rupert Wainwright, choreographer JaQuel Knight and stylist Tanya Gill, emerged from the shooting profoundly impressed with Safura’s seemingly boundless performing talent, energy and drive to succeed.
She tirelessly performed through more than 37 hours of shooting, first in the film studio and then at the infamous spa center and later in the Kiev Opera House, where some of the most sensual scenes of the video were made.
The video features choreographic pieces staged by Beyonce’s choreographer JaQuel Knight. Knight is currently working on creating Safura’s stage act based on the dance arrangement that the viewers will see in the video. However, the final composition is treated as somewhat of a sacred dance and will not be known before Safura goes on the Eurovision stage in Oslo.
Director Rupert Wainwright’s initial plan was to do significant post-production work on the video. However, when Wainwright saw the footage after the shooting session, he canceled a lot of the planned post-production. Safura just looked so natural, graceful, elegant and smooth on tape that there was no need to cover her natural beauty with video effects, he explained.
